Charles

A great big red man!  Oh, it’s just a statue of some old, probably dead guy.  The statue is either painted red or is made of red clay because that is the only color

can see on it.

“Are you almost to the back wall yet?” Jess asks.

            “I can’t tell!” I answer.

“What’s up there Joe?” questions Timmy.

“A lot of weird stuff,” I began, “Aaaahhh!”  I scream as I fall.  What did I trip over?

“Are you okay?” came my cousin’s call.

“I just tripped over a bone that’s all,” I reply, “wait, it’s a BONE!  Aaaaahhh!”

“Can I come up there and see it?” Timmy pleads.

“You are not going up there!” Jess snaps at Timmy.

Oops, it’s just a dog bone, but Jess doesn’t need to know that.  Even though there really isn’t anything scary up here I’m still getting a little bit edgy.  So I start to walk a little bit faster.

“Whoa!” I swear I just saw two red eyes on the back wall.  I turn back to the steps.  Sure enough, there was Jess shining Timmy and Emma’s laser pointers in my direction.  I don’t say anything, I just keep on walking.

“Tap, tap, tap.” I knock on the wall. “There Jess I got to the other side!  And don’t you dare try and scare me on my way out.  I’m watching you.” I warn her.

“ROAR!” somebody with a deep voice growls.

 “Hi dad.” I state calmly.

“Awe, I though I would get you this time.”

“You’ll never scare me!” I say defiantly.  Something taps my arm and I jump at least a foot in the air.  It was just Emma.

“Joe got scared, Joe got scared!  HAHA!” Emma taunts.

“Right after he said he couldn’t be scared to!” laughs Jess.

“This is going to follow me forever isn’t it?”

“Of course!” everybody choruses.
