Introduction Task Process Evaluation Conclusion
We need your help! You, along with other world famous geographers, have been invited to compete for the honor of collaborating on a new social studies book. Other geographers have also been invited to submit their ideas for this new book. Your job will be to gather information about one specific country. As a geographer, you are interested in researching and reporting about the culture of that country. Before the final decision is made about who will be hired to work on the book (& therefore make lots of money from sales of the book to middle schools around the world!), each geographer has to present his or her findings.
There are two parts to your task. First, you will need to research your specific country. You may use internet resources and text sources, as well as video or interview sources. Think about what makes up that country's culture:
language
customs & traditions
religion
celebrations
... anything else special about your country's culture?
The second part of your task is to present the information to the Textbook Approval Panel. You will need to use a professional presentation format during your oral presentation to this respected group. They have chosen PowerPoint as the preferred multimedia presentation module. So, you need to prepare a five (at least) slide PowerPoint presentation, showing:
a title card showing your country's name, a map of that country, as well as your name
one card each for the above mentioned components (parts) of that country's culture
Before you get on the computer to enter data into the PowerPoint presentation, you will need to complete a storyboard plan of each slide. That will save you time & headaches once you sit down to work on PowerPoint.
Remember, you need to check book, video, and/or interview sources as well as the following internet sites.
The Textbook Approval Panel will decide on the new authors of the textbook based on the following criteria for (click the icon to see each rubric):

Answer the following questions as you reflect on this process:
1. Do you feel confident now in presenting information using PowerPoint? Why or why not?
2. Do you feel confident about your oral presentation skills? Choose one or two areas that you feel need improvement. How can you work to improve those areas?
3. How can we improve this process for the future? In other words, what would have helped you complete this project with less stress?
